Company

Hope Productions is a Beijing-based production company dedicated to producing innovative drama series and films. The company was founded in 2006 by Annie Wang, a young innovative Christian producer from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Jin Ye, an award-winning Christian producer with extensive experience in conceiving and producing television series and films.

Jin Ye, the production manager, of Hope Productions, has worked for nearly 15 years producing television dramas and films. He has planned, produced and directed many award winning television series and documentary films in China. His work is highly recognized in the Chinese film business and has garnered many coveted awards such as the Golden Eagle and the Golden Sword.

In 2006, after 12 years of planning and producing TV dramas and films, Jin Ye brings his highly regarded credentials to form Hope Productions with Annie Wang. Together, they will combine their talents, experiences, and cultural distinctiveness to create and produce future successes.

In 2008, Hope Productions has created and produced their television series debut "Born after the Eighties". This series is one of the most highly anticipated television shows in China. Hope Productions upcoming works, a television series "The Becoming", and films "East is Red" and "Meet me in Italy" are slated for release in 2009, and are already causing a buzz in the Chinese film scene. As a “west meets east” team, Hope Productions not only draws upon the experiences in producing television series and films, but also the cultural experiences of its founders, and thus poised to explore new concepts to bring content relevant to a rapidly changing world.

Annie Wang

Producer

Annie Wang grew up in the beautiful British Columbia, Canada.

In 2002, she received the prestigious crown of Miss Chinese Vancouver pageant, a highly regarded honor and accomplishment by the global Chinese community. Through her valuable experience in the year long process, Annie decided to continue to pursuit her passion for performing arts by working on numerous television commercials and music videos as an actor in Canada and China.

By 2003, Annie enrolled into Vancouver Film School, where she unexpectedly discovered a personal talent in film planning, management and production. Following her commencement at VFS, Annie relocated from Vancouver to Beijing so she can further use her talent.

In 2006, Annie gathered her knowledge and resources and founded what is now the Hope Productions.

In 2007, As an result of two years of vigorous learning and understanding for the film industry in China, Annie confidently planned and produced her inaugural film project in the form of television drama series titled "Born After The Eighties", which was inspired by her personal experience as first generation of the one-child policy in China. Through her interpretations and creativity, she pride her work on inspiration and connection by relating familiarities of growing pains and happiness including realistic effects of family, friendship, love and career, under their circumstances, to her audience of peers.

Hope Productions is built on the foundation of a young, dedicated producer, and experienced affiliated partners in their unique areas of the industry, striving towards the common goal of reinventing and reorganizing the domestic industry network of structure via innovation of creativity while bridging attainable and sufficient resources to the world through an enhanced, comprehensive and efficient platform.

Jin Ye

General Manager and Line Producer

Jin Ye graduated from the Department of Film Administration, Beijing Film Academy with a BA in management of film production. He is a member of the Committee of TV Drama under the China Association of TV Artists, a member of the Producers Committee under the China Radio and TV Society, and a producer.

Feature Productions

2006

Produced the 20-part TV drama, The Woman Who Walked out of the Jail.

Filmed the short Wheat Field, What Field as writer, director and producer.

2004

Produced the 30-part teen-idol show, As Beautiful as a Flying Butterfly, a Sino-Korean joint production featuring Korean stars such as Kim So Yeon and Chinese stars Ren Quan and Yu Xiaowei.

Produced the 20-part Heartbeat, starring Wei Zi, Tao Zeru and Pan Yueming.

2003

Produced the 24-part TV series, The Disgrace, a show on corrupted judiciary officials which won the Golden Sword award for TV productions issued by the Ministry of Justice.

Planned and produced the 60-part sitcom, I Have It All Figured Out, to popularize law among citizens.

Produced the 20-part TV drama, No. 4 Basketball Player, on judicial subjects. The show starred Fan Bingbing, Ding Jiali and Song Jia.

2001

Planned the 40-part TV show, The Unmatched Duo, which created a new record in ratings in both mainland China and Taiwan.

Planned the 30-part Sister Huani, a TV drama about urban youths.

2000

Produced the third sequel to the hugely popular A Happy Home for a Happy Life, which again became an award winner, garnering honors such as Most Popular TV Show during the Chinese New Year, Favorite BTV Show during Chinese New Year in the New Millennium, and Spring Swallow Award for best TV production issued by Beijing government.

Produced the 10-part TV drama, Jin Zhu the Good Man Is Kind of Busy, which won the Golden Eagle award – the top TV award in China – for Best Long TV Drama.

1999

Masterminded the 20-part TV drama, Year of the Great Examination.

1998

Planned and produced A Happy Home for a Happy Life, the first TV show that was produced specifically to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Attracting a multitude of stars from the show business, this drama was rated "the most popular TV show" by viewers during the 1998 Chinese New Year.

Produced the 20-part TV drama, Greatest Love.

March 1997-October 1999

Filmed a TV series titled Yellow River Folks, a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC). He was the concept man and producer. Directed by Wu Tianming, the renowned Chinese director, this show won the Best Show award issued by the Beijing Municipal Government in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the PRC

1995

Produced the 20-part TV series, Shining Years. Li Peng, then the premier of China, took a personal interest in the series and wrote the title in Chinese calligraphy for Jin. Based on the true stories of the "Top 10 Youths" of the country, this TV series won the Third Prize of the Beijing Municipal Government TV Drama Award in 1996.

Documentaries

2007

Orchestrated and directed a special program, Heritage – the Masters for the Chinese Cultural Heritage Month show for CCTV. This show records 15 top Chinese folk artists, including Wang Xiangrong, dubbed the "king of folk songs" in northern Shaanxi province. It is distributed internationally by China International TV Corporation.

2002

Produced, orchestrated and directed the documentary, Sustainable Development in China, at the request of 17 Chinese government ministries such as the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology and the State Environmental Protection Administration. This documentary set many records in China's TV industry: covering the widest geography (31 provinces), interviewing the greatest number of people (690), and lasting the longest (780 minutes). In August 2002, it was presented to the World Summit on Sustainable Development in South Africa by the Chinese delegation, headed by the then Premier Zhu Rongji. It was shown to the high acclaim of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, heads of state, international organizations, overseas Chinese, and multinationals.

2000

Orchestrated the 20-part TV special, National Defense at a Glimpse for the China National Defense News.

1997

Planned and produced the 20-part TV documentary, Moonlight Shines on My Heart. Featuring interviews with Hong Kong stars such as Jackie Chan, Stephen Chow and Andy Lau, this show tells the story of Hong Kong people yearning to return to the motherland and their confidence in their city's future. This documentary won the 13th Golden Eagle award.

1996

Produced and directed Thirsting for Prosperity: A Visit to Poverty-Stricken Areas in Shanxi, Gansu and Ningxia. This 130-minute-long documentary recorded the daily struggles of the people living in those three provinces for survival and betterment against an adverse environment.

In In October, produced and directed another TV special, New Beginning for China for the Chinese government to present to the UN special session on sustainable development. Through interviews with people from all walks of life, this documentary highlights the growing awareness of sustainable development among Chinese people and the determination of the Chinese government to tackle such issues as excessive population growth, resource depletion, environmental pollution and ecological degradation.

1994

Directed the 30-part TV special, 21st Century Is Not a Dream. Former Chinese Premier Li Peng wrote the title for the special. Documenting social, economic, economic and ecological ramifications of China's Agenda 21, an official commitment by the Chinese government to the international community, the film seeks to build awareness of China's sustainable development strategy and draw attention to the many economic and ecological issues facing China in the 21st century. In 2002, the Chinese government, at the request of the United Nations 55th General Assembly, submitted to the UN its Country Report on Sustainable Development which specifically noted that "21st Century Is Not a Dream has resonated widely with the Chinese people". This documentary won a top government award.
